Single-payer national health insurance is a system in which a single public or quasi-public agency organizes health financing, but delivery of care remains largely private. The goal of Healthcare-Now! New Jersey is to support the growing movement for a national single-payer healthcare system that covers every one in the country. Physicians for a National Health Program is a single issue organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 14,000 members and chapters across the United States. Its members and physician activists work toward a single-payer national health program in their communities. PNHP organizes rallies, town hall meetings, and debates; coordinates speakers and forum discussions; contributes Op-Eds and articles to the nation's top newspapers, medical journals and magazines; and appears regularly on national television and news programs advocating for a single-payer system. They have many resources available on their website including an overview of the key features of Single-Payer , Single-payer Frequently Asked Questions, and an overview of health economics and financing .

The California Nurses Association and its national arm, the National Nurses Organizing Committee, is one of the nation's premiere nurses' organizations and health care unions. It is a leading national advocate for universal healthcare reform, through a single-payer style system based on an improved and expanded Medicare for all. CNA/NNOC is campaigning for single-payer legislation, HR 676 in Congress, and SB 840 in California. Their website Guaranteed Health Care for All has a very informative Heathcare Facts section explaining single-payer health care and HR 676, the Medicare for All Act currently in congress.
